Find out more »On Thursday June 16 at 7 PM, Kol Shalom Movie Night presents (via Zoom) 7 Days in Entebbe, a PG-13 rated, 107-minute-long action thriller which was released in 2018. A Zoom link will be made available as the date draws closer. This movie is based on the events 46 years ago between June 28 and July 4, 1976 (ironically the US bicentennial) when an Air France flight was hijacked by German left wing and Palestinian terrorists and eventually brought to the airport in Entebbe, Uganda, with the consent of dictator Idi Amin. Israeli and Orthodox Jewish passengers were separated while others were released. The terrorists threaten to kill the hostages and demand the release of over 50 jailed comrades. Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Defense Minister Shimon Peres approve a daring high-stakes, risky rescue operation, with the memory of the 1973 Yom Kippur War still fresh in their minds. Unlike earlier movies about this rescue event, 7 Days in Entebbe presents Israeli, terrorist, and Air France crew perspectives. A parallel fictional story involves the girlfriend of one of the IDF soldiers involved in the rescue.
