TO HELP PLANT OUR HILL TO SLOW STORMWATER RUNOFF You may have heard that Kol Shalom received a $7,000 grant for the design and construction of the rock swale in the back of the building that has stopped much of the erosion and runoff onto our neighbors' properties by redirecting stormwater into the pond at the bottom of the hill. We also received a $1,000 grant from Unity Gardens, plus at least $1,500 from Watershed Stewards Academy, to plant the “grass” eroding slope on either side of the steps. This will require over 80 shrubs, grasses and flowers. Watershed Stewards will be here November 1 to help us clear grass/weeds, to plant and mulch. But our members are required to be involved, per the terms of the grant, including teens and kids, in this project. If you can give 2 hours that Sunday, please help. Volunteers will be scheduled in 2 hour blocks, to maintain social distancing. If you have a shovel/digging tool and/or a serrated knife (for scoring root balls), please bring them.
