What: A 90-minute private tour of the NS Savannah. The vessel is the one and only nuclear powered passenger cargo ship that was ever built in the US. It was launched in 1962 and operated for 10 years, traveling 450,000 miles with nuclear power, while visiting 45 foreign and 32 US ports and welcoming 1.4 million visitors.
Where: In person at Pier 13 in Canton. Address is: 1301 Newgate Avenue, Baltimore, MD which is the first exit on the right on the other side of the Inner Harbor Tunnel. Parking is free on the pier.
Unfortunately, this tour is not handicapped accessible and will require significant walking on stairs and through doorways. Please wear comfortable, closed toe shoes. The ship’s store will be open for souvenir purchase, but there is no food available on board.
How: Please send an email to Gary Weinfeld at gweinfeld@verizon.net to register and with questions you may have. Attendance is limited to the first 25 folks to respond! Not all participants need to drive to Baltimore. Please let Gary know if you wish to carpool from Kol Shalom.
There is no cost for this event. As always, donations to the Men’s Club are very much appreciated.
