Israeli Affairs
The Israeli Affairs Committee seeks to help keep congregants stay abreast of the latest events happening in or affecting the Jewish state. It does this by bringing guest speakers to the congregation, regularly disseminating pertinent media articles, and to encourage congregants to care about the future of the Jewish state and to understand its importance to contemporary Jewish identity.
Past speakers have included American and Israeli political, think tank, and media representatives and are always open to the larger Annapolis community without charge. A balance between competing views on Israel’s situation is sought. For three years, the committee led ongoing structured dialogue sessions for congregants that sought to empower individuals to speak dispassionately about Israel but with knowledge and keen insight. This program was funded by a grant from United Synagogue and Nefesh b’Nefesh.
