Students at Congregation Kol Shalom attend the Daniel Rothman Religious School. The school is named in memory of Daniel Rothman, a young man from Congregation Kol Ami, who died in 1992. He loved Jewish learning and his memory serves as a wonderful role model for our students. Orginally established as a consolidated school of Congregations Kol Ami and Kneseth Israel in 1993, today DRRS is part of the Congregation Kol Shalom family. Our school's goal is to prepare Jewish children to take their place as active and knowledgeable members of the Jewish community. Through their education, our students develop a solid foundation in the study of Jewish heritage and tradition. In order to accomplish these goals, a unique program has been developed which includes T'filah (prayer), Torah, Hebrew language, and Jewish holidays and culture. Students learn each element through a variety of settings: individual, as well as small and large group learning. Judaism is experienced rather than just taughtl Throughout the year, we have activity days as well as family events, field trips and guest visitors which add many different dimensions to our program. Involvement in our religious school doesn't stop at graduation. Our graduates come back to serve as classroom assistants and role models. The Daniel Rothman Religious School continues to strive toward making our "religious school" a positive experience in the lives of our Jewish children and to be an asset to the Annapolis Jewish community. |
