Services
Services on Friday, February 3, will begin at 8:00 PM following our Family Shabbat Dinner. 
 
Our next Family Service will be held on Friday, February 10, at 7:30 PM.  Students from DRRS Grades 4 and 5 will assist in leading services.  February birthdays and wedding anniversaries will be celebrated.
 
Our next Tot Shabbat will be held on Friday, February 10, at 9:30 AM.  Our next Children's Service will be held on Saturday, February 18, beginning at 10:45 AM. Please see below for more information about our children's Shabbat programs.
 
Students from DRRS Grades 6 and  will assist in leading Shabbat services on Saturday, February 25, beginning at 9:30 AM.
 
Services for Purim will take place on Wednesday night, March 7, at 7:00 PM (come dressed in costume) and Thursday, March 8, at 9:30 AM.
 
  
Classes
Our Talmud Study will NOT be held on Monday, February 6. Our next session is scheduled for Monday, February 20, at 9:30 AM.
 
Our weekly Torah Study will be held on Thursday, February 9, at 9:30 AM. 
 
Rabbi Pohl's adult education class on the topic, "Developing Your Dovening - A Study of the Siddur," will continue on the following Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM:  2/9 and 2/16. 
 
 
Monthly Minyan Before Board Meeting
In order to increase the number of religious services provided by Congregation Kol Shalom, we would like to hold a service prior to the monthly Board meeting.  Feel free to join us on Thursday, February 2, at 6:45 PM for a 15-minute Ma-ariv (evening) service.
 
Men's Club News
JOIN US ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5TH - FOR A LITTLE PRAYER AND A LOT OF FOOTBALL!
 
At 9:30 AM on Sunday, February 5, the Men's Club will join thousands of others across the world in a World Wide Tefillin Wrap. We will meet at the synagogue with Rabbi Pohl, as well as 6th and 7th graders from the Daniel Rothman Religious School, to put on tefillin as part of a world wide program sponsored by the Federation of Jewish Men's Clubs. Participants from across the world, on that day, will be participating in the World Wide Wrap. Rabbi Pohl will be available for instructions for those needing help with tefillin, and will present a video on the meaning and use of tefillin. There will be some extra tefillin available at the synagogue for those who don't have them.
 
Then, at 6:00 PM, it's a Super Bowl party! (Kickoff at 6:30 PM) We will be gathering again - this time for an afternoon of football and food. We have made arrangements, thanks to Les Pizarz, our audio-visual guru, for a large screen showing of SUPER BOWL 46. THIS GATHERING IS OPEN TO EVERYONE. There will be beer, drinks, cold cuts, and nasherei.  Admission is $18 if you RSVP in advance ($10 for 13 and under) or $20 at the door. 
 
ADVOCACY DAY:  The Kol Shalom Men’s Club is joining the Baltimore Jewish Council in its annual “Advocacy Day” this year.  Please join us in Annapolis on Tuesday, February 7.  It will be a chance for you to meet with your legislators to talk to them about issues that concern you.  Gov. O’Malley and Lt. Gov. Brown and state legislators have been invited.  Please check out www.bjc.org for more information, and when you RSVP, please mention the Kol Shalom Men’s Club.
 
Sisterhood News
Flyers are available in the lobby for more information on WLCJ'S Seaboard Region Torah Fund Dessert and Program.  RSVPs are needed by Tuesday, February 21, if you plan to attend. 
 
Save the date!  Our Passover Wine Tasting will be held on Saturday, March 3, beginning at 7:30 PM.  
 
Kids' Shabbat Programs
Shabbat Club (1st Grade and younger):  Join us for Shabbat fun at our once a month Shabbat Club. We will learn prayers, sing songs, and explore the weekly Torah portion with stories. Meet other Jewish families from around the area.This program is for kids first grade and younger with their parents (older siblings are more then welcome). Shabbat club meets at 10:30 am, the 3rd Saturday of the month in the DRRS classrooms.  Future dates: 2/18, 3/17, 4/21, 5/19.  
 
Shir Shabbat (birth to 5 years of age):  Come and sing with us as we celebrate Shabbat with our youngest members. Shir Shabbat is a once a month Friday Morning Mommy & Me Shabbat experience. Join us as we explore Shabbat at this fun hands on, interactive Tot Shabbat. Children will explore Shabbat with stories, songs, music, snacks and more! This program is free and open to the whole community. Shir Shabbat meets at 9:30am, the 2nd Friday of the month in the Oneg area.   Future dates:  2/10, 3/9, 4/13, 5/11, 6/8
 
 
An Afternoon of Jazz at Kol Shalom
Save the Date - March 18 - An Afternoon of Jazz with Stef Scaggiari:   On March 18, Kol Shalom will host renowned jazz pianist Stef Scaggiari for an afternoon of music and fun.  There will also be a silent auction and light refreshments.  Don't miss this exciting event -and bring your friends. This event is open to the public.  Flyers are available in the lobby for more details.

Goods and Services Auction on March 18 - in conjunction with Afternoon of Jazz: The fundraising committee is seeking contributions of goods and services for the silent auction.  As many of you did for our March, 2010, silent auction, please consider donating something special again this year:  a special service, a vacation condo, some great wine, tickets to sporting events or concerts, gift cards for restaurants and other businesses, etc.  A letter that can be sent to local businesses can be obtained by contacting the synagogue office.  Please let Peggy Sange, G&S Auction chair, know what you will contribute and/or what you have been able to secure from merchants for this event.  Thank you! Misc:
Don't forget to purchase your tickets for Congregation Kol Shalom's 50/50 Raffle! The drawing will take place on Wednesday, March 7, immediately following the reading of the Megillah.  The cost for each ticket is $25.  The proceeds from this drawing will be used to benefit the educational, social, and religious activities of the synagogue.  For more information, please see the flyers (available on the lobby) or contact the synagogue office.
