Reminder: There will NOT be a Torah Study session on January 1, 2009.  The weekly Torah Study and discussion will resume on Thursday, January 8, at 9:30 AM.

Classes for DRRS will resume on Wednesday, January 7.  Enjoy the remainder of your winter break!

On January 11, 2009, David Snyder AZA #2535 will be holding their 2nd Annual Breakfast and Installation at Kneseth Israel Synagogue on 1125 Spa Road in Annapolis.  The breakfast will be from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM.  The theme of this year's breakfast will be “Choices.”  The guest speaker and honoree will be Anne Arundel County Assistant State’s Attorney and Kol Shalom member William “Billy” Katcef.  Mr. Katcef will talk about choices teens and adults have to face as well as the consequences of the choices. David Snyder AZA will be honoring Mr. Katcef as their “Man of the Year” for his dedication to the community he has lived in during his life.  Tickets can be purchased in advance for $10 per ticket.  Checks should be payable to David Snyder AZA.  People are requested to respond by Sunday, January 4th. The Sisterhood Shabbat Dinner will be held on Friday, January 23, at 6:00 PM, at Congregation Kol Shalom.  The menu will be salad, lemon chicken, potatoes and green beans, plus some dessert.  A vegetarian dinner will be made available upon request. A Shabbat Service led by the women of Kol Shalom will follow.  The price for dinner is $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 4-11, and children 3 and under can attend for free.  Please RSVP by Friday, January 16, if you plan to attend.  Please send your check payable to Sisterhood of Kol Shalom, to:  Sisterhood of Kol Shalom; 1909 Hidden Meadow Lane; Annapolis, MD  21401. 

Sisterhood Shabbat will continue on Saturday, January 24, with a service led by the women of Kol Shalom at 9:30 AM, followed by Lunch and Learn with Rabbi Daniela Kolodny from the Naval Academy.  The topic of discussion will be, “Mitzvah: Commandment?  Good Deed?  What Does it Mean to You?”  Please RSVP if you plan to attend. 

Join Kol Shalom’s Sisterhood for tea and a lively book discussion on Sunday afternoon, February 22 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.  Ellen Levin will lead us in a discussion of the 2008 book selection of the 2008 Women’s League of Conservative Judaism, The Faith Club, by Ranya Idilby, Suzanne Oliver and Priscilla Warner.  Contact Maxine Snyder at the Gift Shop to order a copy of the book.  Copies of the book are also available through the public library systems of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties.

The Friday Evening Service Schedule for January is as follows:

Friday, January 2:  Our Family Birthday Shabbat Service at 7:00 PM.  There will not be an 8:00 PM service.

Friday, January 9:  Our traditional 8:00 PM service.  Wedding anniversaries will be celebrated this evening and also on Saturday, January 10.

Friday, January 16:  6:00 PM Tot Shabbat Service geared toward families and children under the age of 5.  There will also be an 8:00 PM Shabbat service.

Friday, January 23:  Sisterhood Shabbat Dinner at 6:00 PM followed by Shabbat Services led by the women of Kol Shalom.

Friday, January 30:  Our traditional 8:00 PM service. 

All Shabbat morning services begin at 9:30 AM
